Dr. Marquis T. Walker: General Manager



Dr. Walker is an individual of diverse background and experience. Marquis is a graduate of Morgan State University with a B.S. Biology and has a PhD in Biological Sciences from UMBC. Previously, he worked as an assistant instructor of Biology at Howard Community College and now Marquis works as a Bio-medical researcher. This begins to outline Marquis as an education professional, but this is only one portion of the individual. Marquis is also an entrepreneur with a strong belief in economical empowerment. In 1992 Marquis helped establish a partnership, JMT Desktop Publishing. This was a true grass roots organization working on desktop publishing, art design, layout, and T-Shirt design. The company solidified contracts for newspaper layout of Morgan State University's student newspaper. JMT designed fliers and T-shirts for student organizations at Morgan State University, Johns Hopkins University, and for local church organizations. Marquis shared the responsibilities of closing contracts, art design and layout, inventory ordering, shirt pressing. He started Rise Up Computer Solutions in 1997; this business is devoted to the development of software and computer repair. Through this business he has worked on internet site development. Development of applications with Visual Basic and Macromedia Authorware. With the emergence of financial transactions on the internet RUCS has been involved in E-commerce site development.

 

 

Terence B. Hosten: Managing Partner



Terence B. Hosten is an invaluable member of the Darker Than Blue team. Terence is a graduate of Tufts University with a B.S. in Computer Science. Terence also received an MBA from Columbia Business School in New York focusing on Finance and International Business. Terence currently works for Microsoft as the Director of Business Operations overseeing the operations of a $2 billion business unit. After leaving IBM Credit as a Financial Sales Executive covering large accounts in the NY/NJ area for 5 years, Terence worked for systems integrator BearingPoint as a pricing specialist where he priced their largest deal ever ($200 million). Terence has been in the business world since his teenage years over 20 years ago. After college, Terence co-founded TEOK, a food service company that provided catering and food service education to disenfranchised youth. Starting with his love for music, Terence DJ’d his first professional party in 1984 and has felt a special kinship with music ever since. From these beginnings, Terence learned that creating great food was only part of the winning equation for restaurant. The right environment, cuisine, and focus on service are all required ingredients in creating the dining experience of a lifetime. Terence has long sought to use his business acumen in an entrepreneurial fashion. Especially one that brings together friends, enriches the community, and leaves behind far more than it takes.
